المقدمة

تم تأسيس قسم التمريض في عام 2003، و قد تخرج من الكلية حوالي 865 طالبا وطالبة، حاصلين على درجة البكالوريوس في البرنامج، إن درجة البكالوريوس في التمريض تعتمد على دراسة الجوانب العلمية والإنسانية التي من شأنها أن توفر الأساس للتنمية المستمرة في التعليم و التقدم الوظيفي. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك، يعكس برنامج التمريض التغييرات الأخيرة في أدوار مقدمي الرعاية الصحية من أجل إعداد الطلاب لتلبية ارتفاع الطلب في بلدنا.

وقد تم تصميم البرنامج للسماح للطلاب، خلال السنوات الأربع من دراستهم، لبناء كفاءاتهم المهنية ومنحهم الفرصة للتفوق الأكاديمي، والتوجيه الذاتي، والقدرة على تحقيق الجوانب العملية للحياة المهنية. خلال السنة الأولى من البرنامج، يتم إدخال المناهج العامة كشرط أساسي لإعداد الطلاب التخصص. و في العام الثاني، يتعلمون أسس ومبادئ المهنة، فضلا عن مواد الرعاية الصحية المختلفة التي ترتبط مباشرة بمسارهم الأكاديمي والمهني. خلال العام الثالث، سوف تكون مقررات الطلاب أكثر تركيزا على المواد التمريضية في مختلف المجالات الطبية، بالإضافة إلى المقررات التي تساعد الطلاب على أداء واجباتهم في التعليم الصحي. وخلال السنة الرابعة، وتركز المقررات على تخرج الممرضين المهرة لضمان التميز السريري، و يجب على الطلاب بعد ذلك اجتياز السنة التدريبية الإجبارية (سنة الامتياز).

هذا المقرر يشتمل على ثلاثة أقسام رئيسة، وهو: الثقافة الإسلامية بمصادرها، وأهميتها، وعلاقتها بالثقافات الأخرى، والعقيدة الإسلامية بأركانها، وخصائصها، وآثارها، وقضاياها الجوهرية، والعبادة بعناصرها، ودوافعها، وشروطها، وخصائصها، والمفاهيم والممارسات الخاطئة فيها. ويركز المقرر على تعزيز القيم الإسلامية في نفوس الطلاب؛ لبناء ذواتهم وشخصياتهم القوية؛ ليكونوا لَبِناتٍ صالحة في مدماك مجتمهم وأمتهم الإسلامية

English level I (Grammatical Structure and Reading) BSSC102 English Language 1 is a course in English focuses on the fundamentals of the language and includes basics of English language grammar, reading skills and vocabulary. It also focuses on situational conversation, listening and presentation skills

Introduction to Computer Science BSSC 103 This course includes a number of known computer applications that are essential for the completion of any major in college. The outline of the course will take the student from the basic computer knowledge tools combining both theoretical and applied skills to gradually moving towards more advanced skills. Content includes basic definitions, introduction to the computer components; hardware and software. Introduction to the Microsoft Office helps student in their field of study

The course focuses on the study of Latin and Greek affixes (Prefixes & suffixes), word roots related to body systems and the methods of combining them together. It also includes the medical terms related to the diseases, positions, treatment and diagnostic procedures

The course focuses on the structure and biomedical function of the human body systems. It includes cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal system, digestive system, endocrine system, blood, respiratory system, and the nervous system including special senses (eye, ear balance, taste and smell.

This course includes the concepts of communication, and characteristics of therapeutic communication & strategies that enhance a therapeutic relationship. Through a variety of activities, students learn how to apply therapeutic communication skills with patients’ in various settings

It is a fifteen- week-course with 10 contact hours of instruction per week. This course is designed for students with basic level of English as a second language who need English language skills as a means of studying nursing. It integrates all four skills reading, writing, listening and speaking. This course includes all material and activities needed to achieve better communicative and writing skills.

هذا المقرر يشتمل على مصادر التشريع الإسلامي الأربعة، وهي: القرآن، والسنة، والإجماع، والقياس، ويبرز حاجة الإنسان لهذا التشريع في كل زمان ومكان.كما يركز على أهمية إلمام الطالب بوسائل التشريع الإسلامي في بيان الحكم الفقهي في القضايا المستجدة والمعاصرة في واقع الحياة، وكذلك يركز على خصيصة الاجتهاد الجماعي، ودور المجامع الفقهية فيها

This course is an introduction to the nutrition for nursing student, as a basic science course. It outlines the types and impacts of nutrients on the human body both in health and illness. It particularly focuses on nutrients effects throughout different life stages. In addition, it introduces the students to the rule of nutrients as a preventive therapy for many diseases and the modification of such nutrients as required for treating other diseases.

This course serves as the basis for the other nursing courses. It represents a solid foundation regarding technical and interpersonal experience. It focuses on historical perspectives of nursing profession, current trends in nursing, introduction to health and illness and health care delivery system. Also, it includes an orientation about nursing theories and introduces basic nursing skills as vital signs, hygiene, safety.

This course illustrates the basics principles of biochemistry and families the students with the value of studying biochemistry through promoting the understanding of metabolic pathways that exhibited by the human cells.

This course focuses on pathophysiologic concepts related to altered biological processes affecting adult individuals across the lifespan. The course describes the general pathologic mechanisms producing signs and symptoms of specific disease processes commonly encountered in nursing practice. Moreover, it identifies how each organ system participates in the total regulatory and homeostatic mechanisms of the body.

The course introduces student to the effective knowledge and skills required for assessment of individual’s health status during health and illness throughout their life cycle. Emphasis will be placed on the appropriate approaches of physical examination techniques and health history taking methods. Clinical part of the course is designed to provide the guided nursing experience, knowledge and skills essential for the basic preparation of the professional nurses in demonstration of physical examination tests and procedures in lab and in clinical area for patients with general medical and surgical problems

This course serves as the basis for the other nursing courses. It represents a solid foundation regarding technical and interpersonal experience. It focuses on the use of the nursing process and a nursing diagnosis (NANDA) in the application of the knowledge learned throughout the course.

The course provides an introduction to the concepts and theories of psychology and to their application to real life situations, as well as the biological and environmental factors affecting human behavior. Topics include introduction to concepts of psychology, biological bases of behavior, research methods in psychology, sensation and perception, motivation and emotions, psychology of learning, psychology of personality, health stress and coping, abnormal psychology, and treatment modalities for psychological disorders

This course emphasizes on important topics of microbiology, clinical infectious diseases and the basic principles of medical microbiology (primarily; bacteriology, virology, parasitology and mycology) including microbial pathogenesis, and clinical infectious diseases. This course develops knowledge about sterilization, disinfection and sepsis. The course involves a study of major topics in microbiology and immunology but covering the basic elements only in each case. The course incorporates a practical study unit, which introduces students to some of the fundamentals safety and infection control principles and techniques.

This course illustrates the basics principles of Pharmacology and drug classifications. The course also includes the commonly used drugs and the different routes of administration, besides highlighting on the common drug administration errors and their effects on clients and nurses. Commonly used drugs are discussed with regard to groups, forms, uses, doses, routes of administration and actions as well as the side effects. The course illustrates the mathematic calculations of dosage of medication. Common drug administration errors and their effects on clients and nurses are discussed.

The course focuses on the specific and complex problems that affect the functional health patterns of an adult patient. Emphasis will be placed on the impact of disease on an individual’s functional and nursing care to assist the individual to overcome these changes. Clinical part of the course is designed to provide the guided nursing experience, knowledge and skills essential for the basic preparation of the professional nurses in the nursing care of the patient with general medical and surgical problems. The course is also devoted to promote health and prevent diseases

This course focuses on nursing science and art. A historical overview is presented in order to orient the students with the evolution of nursing science and practice through history. It also explains the ethical influences and legal aspects of nursing as essential in nursing profession. Additionally, the course focuses on important issues. Internal Health Organizations, licensure and focus is placed on health care services and education in the KSA

This course focuses on the ways human groups cooperate and conflict with one another and the expected and unanticipated consequences of these relations in their community as well as in the worldwide community.

This course introduces the principles and theories of teaching and learning within a health context. Through a variety of activities, students learn how to assess the teaching- learning environment, develop a teaching plan, apply specific teaching strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.

This course introduces students to biological and psychological components of human growth and development throughout the life span. Besides, it provides students with the knowledge about what to expect of a particular child at any given age

This course focuses on providing students with evidence-based knowledge and skills required for nursing practitioners to care for their patients, and to meet the challenges of mental health nursing profession. This knowledge and skills are important in providing high quality health services to individuals and families with diverse mental health needs across the lifespan. It addresses major theories pertaining to the field of mental illness & mental wellness in general, and those related directly to nursing the mentally ill. It also introduces students to the legal and ethical principles the nurse needs to protect the rights of the patients and their own rights. The course will particularly focuses on different treatment modalities for a wide range of mental disorders and conditions both in acute clinical settings as well as in the community using the nursing process as a framework for providing this service

The course focuses on application of the knowledge regarding normal growth and development in care of children. Also, it utilizes critical thinking practices in the application of nursing process for hospitalized children and discuss the physiological and psycho-social effects of illness and hospitalization on children and their families. This course helps the students to develop collaboration effectively with hospitalized children, families and inter-disciplinary team using communication modalities.

This course is focuses on the knowledge and skills required to care women during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period, as well as care to newborn infant in relation to normal and abnormal conditions s utilizing nursing process.

This course includes an overview of nursing informatics for nursing students. It integrates nursing science with computer technology and information science to identify, gather, process and manage information. The course focuses on technology-based healthcare applications which support clinical, administration, research, and educational decision making that enhance the efficacy of nursing practice. It also focuses on developing students’ understanding of concepts relevant to current trends and issues in using, designing, and managing heath care information systems. Students will explore the use of informatics in nursing practice and its role in enhancing client care, gain an appreciation of the competencies required of an expert knowledge worker and apply the relevance of those competencies to their day-to-day practice as nurses.

يعدُّ هذا المقرر مهنيا واحترافيا للطالب الجامعي في الميادين اللغوية، حيث إنه يجمع بين النظرية والتطبيق، فيتناول الجوانب المتعلقة بالتحرير الكتابي، ثمَّ يعزِّزُها بتدريب الطلبة على الكتابة الصحيحة، والتعبير السليم، وتجنُّب الأخطاء الكتابية الشائعة، ويركِّزُ المقرر على تقديم نماذج تطبيقية، وتدريبات عملية، يمكن من خلالها قياس مدى التحصيل العلمي، واكتساب المهارات التحريرية

This course focuses on the basic concepts of epidemiology and biostatistics as applied to public health problems. Emphasis is placed on the principles and methods of epidemiologic investigation, appropriate summaries and displays of data, and the use of classical statistical approaches to describe the health of populations.

Nursing Research Course focuses on basic understanding of the research process. The course includes an overview of quantitative and qualitative approaches to research, and the analytical tools required to critically evaluate research reports. The course emphasizes the rights of human research subjects. Students are requested to prepare a research proposal step by step for a topic of their interest related to nursing.

This course emphasizes on the knowledge and skills required to care safely for critically ill patients. It includes expose nursing students to patients with life threatening conditions with different types of invasive devices. It also focuses on the development of students’ critical thinking and decision-making skills. The course provides opportunity for nursing students to practice skilled nursing interventions for critically ill patients and to participate as an integral member of the intensive care team.

This course focuses on the cyclical process of identifying clinical questions, searching and appraising the evidence for potential solutions, evaluating the outcomes and identifying additional gaps in nursing knowledge. In addition, the course includes the importance of improving patient outcome through proper clinical decision-making process based on existing evidence, clinical judgment and patient preference.

This course includes foundation knowledge in considering the community as a client. Also, this course focuses on necessary skills to assess and critically analyze the risk aggregates and communities that help to identify, prioritize and plan culturally sensitive, competent care. In addition, it provides theory essential to apply nursing process and epidemiological approach in caring for individuals, families and community.

This course is an introduction to the theory and practice of nursing leadership and management. The course emphasizes core nursing leadership and management concepts, principles, and competencies such as critical thinking, effective communication, conflict management, successful delegation, team building, controlling resources, improving quality, managing stress, leading change, and managing human resources. The practice component of the course focuses on integrate knowledge about the activities, roles, and responsibilities of the nurse managers/leaders and to enable students to practice conceptual, technical, and interpersonal management and leadership skills. The clinical part also provides opportunities for students to translate theory into practice and to build their capacity to influence care delivery and patient care outcomes
