Professor Esam is currently a Professor of Medical Molecular Virology at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is simultaneously the Head of the Special Infectious Agents Unit at King Fahd Center for Medical Research at King Abdulaziz University.
Professor Esam studied at King Abdulaziz University and obtained his bachelor in Medical Technology. He then pursued her Master degree and earned his Master in Pathological Sciences (Medical Virology) from Sheffield & Sheffield Hallam Universities. Also, he earned her Doctoral degree in Medical Molecular Virology from the same university.
Moreover, Professor Azhar serves as a consultant at Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS), a fellow at both Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (FRCPE) and Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS).
Initially, he started working as Medical Laboratory Technologist at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital. Right after that, he joined King Abdulaziz University and contributed to various work positions, such as
